The Barclay Downs sidewalk project has finally started. The $2.5 million dollar project will include new sidewalk, curb and gutter and street trees along the east side of Barclay Downs Dr. from Sayre to Runnymede. This project was funded through the city’s CNIP bond package and through a $250,000 contribution from the developer of The Encore apartment project.

What do you think about an indoor performing arts facility in the SouthPark area? The SouthPark Church (formerly known as Sharon United Methodist or the “ski-slope” church) is evaluating neighborhood support for an indoor performing arts venue that would be located in their new building. The venue could be used for recitals, musicals, plays, and larger community events. Please let them know your thoughts by completing a short survey.

Check out the coverage we have received about the Backlot Trail ribbon-cutting to be held Tuesday, Oct. 24th at 11:45 am. While trails are becoming the norm in Charlotte, this one is special as it is the first east-west connection between SouthPark's business community and neighborhoods and the X-CLT trail. This project would not have been possible without the support of County Commissioner Laura Meier and Councilman Tariq Bokhari and the talented city and county staff who worked through the obstacles to make this trail a reality. Hope you can come out and celebrate with us.
